Darlene is a Nationally Certified Kitchen Designer (CKD), a Nationally Certified Bath Designer (CBD), and is licensed by the State of Illinois as a Registered Interior Designer. Darlene founded Distinctive Designs in 1990 and has since been awarded Entrepreneur of the Year by the Springfield Chapter of Women in Management and National Entrepreneur of the Year. Distinctive Designs has also been awarded the Small Business Owner of the Year by the Springfield Chamber of Commerce and the Illinois Governor's Small Business Person of the Year. Darlene has passed the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) and is a member of the prestigious American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and is a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS).

Sadie L. Smith, CKD, CAPS
Senior Designer
Sadie earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Interior and Environmental Design from Illinois State University. Seven years of kitchen and bath design experience have shown Sadie the importance of identifying realistic client expectations, maintaining organization and researching new products in helping to create your ideal space. Sadie's accreditations include being a Certified Kitchen Designer (CKD) and Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS).

William L. Skeens, CKD, CAPS
Senior Designer
Bill earned his National Certification as a Kitchen Designer in 1995. With his wife, Darlene Weaver, they started Distinctive Designs in 1990. Bill was the manufacturer representative for Wood Mode Custom Cabinetry for downstate Illinois & Indiana for 3-1/2 years where he recruited new dealers and trained them on product knowledge, sales; design and lifestyle themes. Bill returned to Distinctive Designs in 2007 to resume his career as a Senior Designer. Bill has since passed the Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) program offered by the National Association of Home Builders.

LeeAnne Atterberry,
Project Manager
LeeAnne's natural affinity for the aesthetics of good design, coupled with five years of experience as a Design Assistant and now Project Manager, makes her a vital asset to her clients and Distinctive Designs. LeeAnne possesses the unique talent to balance technical expertise with a true "feel" for space. She is dedicated to exceeding client expectations, making her an invaluable resource in the industry.

Paula Froelich, CAPS
Project Manager
Paula earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from the CIDA accredited program at the Illinois Institute of Art in Schaumburg. Paula has gained a wealth of practical knowledge and experience during her tenure at Distinctive Designs. She has since passed the Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) program offered by the National Association of Home Builders. Paula's talents and skills combined with her dedication to customer satisfaction make her an essential part of the Distinctive Design Team.

Krista Benton,
Project Manager
Krista comes to Distinctive Designs from the Chicago area where she worked in an Eco-Friendly Design firm. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from a CIDA accredited program at the Illinois Institute of Art in Schaumburg. Krista brings a wealth of knowledge and talent to Distinctive Designs. She has proved to be a vital asset to our clients and is destined to grow professionally with the company.
